10 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR WORK PERFORMANCE

1. Create a Personal Development Plan and Visualize I personally would say this is your number 1 priority. If you do not have a goal and a plan in place that you are passionate about, everything else is just that much harder. Set realistic and achievable goals and check your improvement weekly. Ensure that you do something every day towards your goal and this will give you a feeling of growth and accomplishment. You will easily find supportive articles and scientific evidence on the power of visualization and this can be your step to accomplishing the goals you have set for yourself. Take a few minutes every morning to visualize where you want to be in 2 years. Keep that image of accomplishment in your mind as you go to work and work towards the future you have created for yourself.

2. Accept Responsibility We all make mistakes and we are all going to make more mistakes but the important thing is to take responsibility and learn from it. You will become an even better person and employee by acknowledging your faults and taking responsibility as well as facing whatever circumstances you need to face. This will not only build your character but will put you a step ahead of everyone else and you will find your path to success becomes closer.

3. Say No to Social Media Social media makes it so easy to get distracted and lose your focus. Keep your phone on silent and put it out of eye sight. Keep your focus on your tasks at hand and set a time to check your messages. Avoid Social Media completely during working hours.

4. Always Do More Than Expected An employee who always has the excuse that it is not in his job description is not going to reach his potential and succeed. You must be willing and take the initiative when it comes to going the extra mile. Do more than expected and you will find that not only will your employer and colleagues notice but you will find more happiness and fulfilment in your career when you know you are doing the best you can.

5. Avoid Gossip You will find gossip in every organization but you want to stay away from any company politics, drama and gossip. It will only waste your time, where you could be doing something more productive and it will most likely get you involved in situations and conflict that does not serve you.

6. Prioritize at Your Most Productive Time Ensure you prioritize your most important tasks when you are at your most productive. We all have those few hours a day where we have more energy, more focus and more oomph! Set your most important tasks at that time and leave the other tasks for the rest of the work day. No matter how intense the task may be, commit to completing it before going ahead with anything else. Once you have made it a habit and are sticking to a schedule you will find that a lot more gets done and you will feel so much more productive every time you cross the tasks off your to-do list.

7. Don’t Stop Learning It is so important to keep learning and studying in whatever way you are able to. We are privileged to have so much knowledge at hand so keep watching videos, reading books and studying. This will improve your work performance and industry knowledge and get you that much closer to that promotion.

8. Set Times to Check Emails You would not believe how many hours are wasted a day on checking emails and responding to emails. Add it to your schedule and only check your emails at the times set for them. You will thank me later :)

9. Arrive Early You will be surprised at how much you can accomplish by arriving 30 minutes early. Work place is quiet with absolutely no distractions and that time will help you kick start your day.

10. Take a Vacation

Of course you cannot do all of the above without having to take a break every now and then. Take a vacation! It is the best thing you can do to reset and get back to work re-energized and with more passion. It is important to rest and to take breaks. Leave work completely behind during your vacations and ENJOY!
